The Wobbly Block has launched an international campaign to encourage Britain’s Steve Parry to return to competitive swimming in time for the London Olympics.
Parry is one of Britain’s most successful male swimmers ever and a truly great ambassador for the sport in this country. He is also widely regarded as a ‘thoroughly nice chap’. However, the recent comeback of Australian aquatic legend Ian Thorpe has clearly demonstrated that now is the time for the Liverpudlian to rise from his position on the BBC sofa and make his own return to the pool.
ParryComeback.com, the official website of the Steve Parry Comeback Campaign, includes a Facebook presence that will allow supporters from across the world to show their support.
As an added incentive, Facebook’s terms and conditions clearly state that if 10,000 people choose to like the site, Parry will be legally obliged to make a comeback.
Colin Brown, director of London Swimming and an expert on what is good for morale, unfortunately had no comment to make.
